About the Event
About: In this special workshop, learn all about our native bees, what you can do to attract them and how to build the best native bee hotel! Kit Prendergast, a Native Bee scientist, will speak to us about our native bees and specifically what native bees have been discovered around Herdsman Lake in a recent survey. As part of this workshop you will construct your own bee hotel which you can take home or place in our Native Bee and Butterfly garden at the Herdsman Lake Discovery Centre.
Date: Sunday 27th June 2021
Time: 2-4pm
Presenters: WA Gould League and Kit Prendergast
Cost: General Admission $15/participant, WAGL Friends $10/participant (All children need to be accompanied by an adult). All welcome, but most suited to primary school ages and upwards. Children under 3 free.
What’s included: Presentation by Kit Prendergast, native bee scientist and author of “Creating a Haven for Native Bees”. A hands-on bee hotel workshop will follow, using natural and recycled materials. Tea/coffee and light refreshments will be provided. All materials supplied on the day.
What to bring: Water bottle, closed shoes, suitable clothing for wood working/ craft work/ painting
Other info: Max 50 participants. Please note that renovations are continuing at the Herdsman Lake Discovery Centre and the displays may not be availalable to view on the day.
